Vascular Health and Sexual Performance Naturally
77A unique strategy to support sexual performance is to support endothelial cells. The link to good sexual health is the condition of the arteries. Vascular disease is directly tied to performance.
Endothelial Health
Endothelial health is tied to potency. The connection is so strong that vascular function can’t be separated from endothelial health. Endothelial dysfunction is one of erectile dysfunctions main causes.
Here is how it works to get an erection you need an adequate blood flow. This requires the relaxation of the smooth muscle in the arteries of the penis. The chemical compound nitric oxide triggers the process of relaxation increasing the blood flood to the penis needed for an erection. Endothelial cells are responsible for nitric oxide production.
As men age there is an age related decline in erectile function. The mechanisms involved are not just one particular thing, but are multi-factorial. A common occurrence is the impairment in smooth muscle cell function with reduced nitric oxide.
Mainstream Solution
Viagra works to increase both the levels and activity of nitric oxide, increasing blood flow to the genitals, and more intense sensations. Doctors usually resort to one of the FDA-approved prescription drugs such as Viagra, Cialis or Levitra for erectile dysfunction associated with vascular disease.
These drugs are treating the symptom instead of chronic endothelial dysfunction a cause of ED. The danger is that the cause isn’t being treated. Not only is overall health in jeopardy, but a pill is a short term solution. Dysfunctional endothelial cells, are often disabled by plaque buildup, and can no longer produce enough nitric oxide.
Although the mainstream drugs help some men achieve erections for sexual activity, they don’t work for everyone. The reality is they are a temporary solution with a host of unwanted side effects. The dangers are real, men have experienced vision loss, hearing impairments, painful erections, and many men don’t experience an erection. The side effects don’t stop there many men experience indigestion, flushing, headaches, and serious neurological disorders.
The problem is a pill doesn’t fix an underlying problem, which usually is systemic. Plaque buildup is causing erectile dysfunction in aging males. Today ED is accruing at younger ages, due to diet, stress, and other lifestyle factors.
Natural Solution
Prescription drugs can temporarily treat erectile dysfunction for some, but they don’t offer a long term solution.
What research has found is that L-arginine an amino acid commonly found in the diet is an oxidative precursor of nitric oxide (NO) which turns out to be a (YES) for achieving and maintaining an erection.
L-arginine, has numerous functions in the body, and is necessary to form nitric oxide, a gas released by the endothelium cells that relaxes blood vessels. Erections can only occur when the smooth muscles in the penis are relaxed. The increase in nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels; this allows an increased blood flow to the penis. The more blood flow there is the firmer the erection.
Pycnogenol © is another supplement that has shown positive results. Pycnolgnol © and L-arginine aspartate work well together to restore sexual function. Together they enable erections, boost libido, performance, and sperm motility, and quantity.
Pycnogenol© is a patented water extract from the bark of a specific type of pine tree in southwestern France. It is a Nitric Oxide booster, it is not a food, but it is plant based, and has the ability to help produce strong erections.
L-Arginine is found in peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, tuna, chicken, salmon, milk, tofu, and garlic.
Exercise
Physical endurance, and muscle tone improve sexual functioning. Exercise activates the sympathetic nervous system, which gets blood-flow to the genital region. Research shows that even low levels of physical activity help keep everything in working order.
Research indicates that exercise may increase sexual drive, sexual activity and performance. Studies indicate that physically active men had a lower risk of impotence compared with their inactive counterparts.
Conclusion
Erectile dysfunction seems to be linked to heart disease. The inability to achieve or sustain an erection affects more than 18 million men. This is a study from JohnHopkins published in February of 2007 issue of the American Journal of Medicine.
The researches found that about 50 percent of the men in the study with diabetes also had erectile dysfunction and almost 90 percent of the men with ED had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease. This included diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking or high cholesterol levels. The men with erectile dysfunction were less physically active than the men who reported no problems with ED.
While erectile dysfunction is associated with advancing age, it really is a lifestyle issue, as such should also be treated as one. Vascular health and sexual performance are linked, and a pill that only addresses the surface issue is only a temporary fix.

Very informative. Thanks for posting
Really good stuff. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Thanks for posting! A lot of good info here. Very helpful.
I think it's sad that the drug companies are so in charge in this country that they're willing to just prescribe a pill for this "problem", rather than treating the whole person and the root cause of the issue. It seems like ED is a way of your body telling you that your heart may not be up to sexual activity. Taking viagra or other pills like it seems to be a way to bypass the natural messages your body is trying to send you. Doctors should really be focusing on getting their patients to improve their heart health through diet and exercise rather than just writing an rX and sending patients on their way (not to say that all doctors do this, but it seems to be what the drug companies want.)
That is true about the drug companies in many areas. Instead of trying to find the root cause of something, and try natural treatments or lifestyle changes for things, we are given a script for a pill that will make it all better, but at what long term cost?
The videos provided here in this hub are superb..Nice hub with very well written topic..great tips as well..Thanks a lot for sharing such an awesome hub..
